Fields with decimals in Oracle 8.i Problem

Why when I record a field that contains decimals in SQLPLUS, in
VisuaBasic or PowerBuilder I cannot see this decimals, for example I do
record 2.25 and to the moment to consult the data, do I see 225, but
when I consult directly to the table with SQLPLUS the data 2,25 are
they correct which the solution is?
