You have encountered different people than I have, then. To be the top in either field requires very similar personality traits and intellectual capacity. Switching requires a huge amount of education in either direction, because they both encompass much of the computer world, though DBA doesn't require as much analog electronics and RF physics, but those who switch do very well once they get over the learning curve.

Agreed. CPA/Laywers also do well, for the same reasons.
