we use a combination of scripts - and seagate's backup exec oracle agent - I prefer the scripts myself but backup exec makes a nice presentation format for the guys who change the tapes.

In answer to your question about the Oracle Intelligent Agent it is a process that provides information and functionality to Oeracle Enterprise Manager - see your documentation for details.
