        From what I understand performance is comparable on 8.1.5. (Neither is consistently faster or slower than the other.) Given that the future development thrust is Java I expect that in the future Java will be faster and I suspect that there won't be any significant improvements made in PL/SQL. Based on the above I would use Java.
