Well again, I think the best recommendations in most regards come from people who have already tried the products.

Of course the net + good search engines (e.g. www.google.com) can aid greatly in a search for such recommendations / opinions.

In most cases, opinions on the web come with no strings attached i.e. the person could rarely profit from an action of yours (influenced by their opinion) ; thus there's less temptation to bend the truth.

The same cannot be said of ANY company's PR / Advertising (Oracle included).
