Urgent: create user with Oracle 8

Hi,
I am new with Oracle 8 and i have some problems.

I want to create an internal user with the command

CREATE USER my_user IDENTIFIED BY password;

but I have an error:

ORA-01935 user name missing
(in french is "nom de rôle ou utilisateur absent" and I don't know the e xact meaning of rôle)
