Hi Terry,

Dont know if you have any solution, but here is what we've got.

The Listener "died" yesterday on a system, and we did a dbx -a <Process-ID>.
The output showed that the listener is hanging in a read() on a socket.

According to Oracle, this is known in BUG 460905, and the solution would be to run Net8 listener, in a seperate ORACLE_HOME.

Terry, try the dbx command the next time you see the problem. It should give
you the answer, if your problem is the same as ours.

Regards and Merry Christmas to you all.

Michael Janning
