You may find you can't now issue a shutdown immediate or shutdown abort. If forced to, you can always down the server which will produce the equivalent of a shutdown abort. This isn't a great idea. But if you do it, after the database comes up and performs crash recovery, before any users log on do a shutdown immediate then restart the database.

Of course if you're paying for Oracle support, then I would get on the phone with them first.
