You can purchase a trial-copy oracle 8i "cd pack" at the oracle store
(http://oraclestore.oracle.com/) for $39.95 plus $10 shipping.
The CD pack contains:

1) "How To Get Started" guide
2) "Quick Suite Install" CD-ROMs
3) Product CD-ROMs with soft copy documentation.

This is not the free developer addition; it has a 30-day trial basis.
(I assume/hope they provide a means to convert it to a developer copy).

Red Hat, also, was giving Oracle 8i cd's away, but I signed up for mine nearly 10 days ago and still haven't received it.
