Help! Lost Connectivity Question

Hello All

I have an application that connects to an Oracle database. Now sometimes I loose connectivity due to timing-out problem because of Network traffic. When this happens my database get corrupted. I was wondering if there was a way of finding and closing a connection (gracefully) from Oracle end when a timeout occurs with a user's session.
