Unable to start service on NT/8.05

I'm unable to start the OracleStartSID service.

When I try as a local administrator, who is in the ORA_SID_DBA AND ORA_SID_OPER groups, to start it from control panel/services the error 'cannot start service due to logon error' is returned. When I try from the command line using
'oradim80...' the error 'need dba password' or something similar is in the oradim80.log file.

I think it's because we've set up the services without a password so that we can connect to server manager without a password. We've set up ORA_SID_DBA AND ORA_SID_OPER groups and the other settings required to get this working and it works fine when connected as the user oracle who is in these groups.

The problem is that we'd like to use ARCSERVE to do the cold backups and we'd like to start the service afterwards using the dos command 'NET START OracleServiceSID'. Now I believe that ARCSERVE doesn't run as an NT user and so cannot run scripts as administrator (if it could we could start the db by connecting to server manager as sysoper, this I've tried and it works) but ARCSERVE can start services, though not in this case.

We're running NT 4 and Oracle 8.0.5. Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Jeremy Cope
