Hi,
there is a timer shell available from novell to shedule a task.

just build a starter.ncf and a stop.ncf

at 12 call stop.ncf to close the instance at 3 call start.ncf to open the instance.

it's similar to the "orastart" and "orastop" but you need to supply the passwords so that the screen does not wait for the sysadmin to type the passwords.
