This happens if the ownership of dbsnmp is not correct.

The extra characters are at the end of nmiconf.tcl There is an if{ } statement that will have some extra characters after the } Looking at the file will make things clear. Just remove the extra junk, run root.sh and start the dbsnmp process again.
