Make sure that SQL*Net is installed and configured correctly and that the alias definitions in TNSNAMES.ORA are correct.

Make sure that the C:\ORANT\BIN is part of the NT default PATH (you can edit NT environment settings using the SYSTEM applet in Control Panel).

Finally use the ODBC Test App from Oracle to test the ODBC connection.

What also will help is of you post the -exact- errors you get using ODBC with Oracle.
