We have some experience of Both - openVMS and UNIX on ALPHA. We run SAP/r3 on the UNIX ALPHA which is quite a challenge.

So we have at least some experience.

We would need some more details to get any further with the problems you have. Also the information you give on the check already made is a bit sketchy.

First thoughts

  1. How much update acivity is there (i.e. how quickly does your redo grow)
  2. Have you analyzed the Oracle schemas
  3. Which version of Oracle are you running.
  4. Have you identified your resource hungry statements

5 Does your application use bind variables in its SQL

    6. Have you run Explain Plan on you resource hungry SQL statements.

    7. Do you have enough Sort_Area_Size to sort in memory.

Try these out and get back to us.

Regards
