Replication question

I read somewhere that in Oracle7 the replication code was PL/SQL and that
with Oracle8 it was re-implemented in C code - which would provide better
performance. I was wondering if anyone had used replication in Oracle7 and
subsequently migrated to Oracle8 and could comment on any changes in
performance?
