Database resets user's connections

Help required desperately !!

I have an Oracle 8.0.4 db on Solaris 2.6. Everything is working fine except that intermittently (ie after 8-9 hrs), a user connected to the database from my application reports error in connecting to the db.

This does not happen all at one time, it happens across the day. On restarting the application, a fresh connection is created and no probs till after another 8-9 hrs.

Any sugestions/ideas anyone ?? Probable areas : Listener parameters, idle timeouts etc etc...
