Did you try to install all pieces at once? If so, try uninstalling then only
put up the minimum stuff (client, unix installer, Net8). On my Linux this
seemed to get the libraries up properly so that the rest of the install
scripts ran OK.
Of course, your paths and permissions are all OK, right???
