Problems with UTL_FILE Package

We have the following problem using the UTL_FILE package on an AIX system running Oracle 7.3.4.

We are able to write a small amount of data to a file by using the UTL_FILE.PUT_LINE procedure. But if we try to write a couple of hundred records to the file we get an WRITE_ERROR exception.

Did anybody experience the same problem or does someone know if the size of files created with UTL_FILE is limmited.
