Puzzling Tablespace

I have a tablespace for indexes consisting of 6 datafiles. If I query
DBA_SEGMENTS I get 19 rows returned showing various values for the
initial extent. If I limit this query by DISTINCT I get 8 rows returned.
Why? Surely I should get 6 rows or less (only 1 if initial extent was
the same for all datafiles.



Can someone explain this please!
