Oracle Pipes

Hi Everyone,

Any ideas what causes the following using implicitly created pipes:

Pipename = ALERT_PIPE

PipeMessage = a long string - 162 bytes.

When I do a select on v$dbms_pipe I see my message as one of the pipe names and I cannot retrieve the message from anywhere.

If I shorten the PipeMessage to say 30 bytes then the pipe works fine and selecting from v$dbms_pipe shows me Pipename as one of the pipes.

Why does the longer message create a new pipe by itself using the message as the name?
