• Resetlogs is just what it says. It resets the log sequence number to 1. It means 'forget everything what has happened in the past' You usually do this when you are not able to continue beyond a certain point. You could do anything in your recover action: recover until a certain point in time, recover until a fixed SCN, but after that you need to use RESETLOGS. If you use COMPLETE recovery, you shouldn't apply RESETLOGS. If you are sure you have all redo log files, complete recovery should work. If you don't have all redo log files, for instance if you have a hole in the sequence, say 2138 2139 2140 2141 and 2140 is missing, you will be able to recover only until 2139, everything beyond 2139 is lost. This is because recovery is just 'playback' or roll forward. As the database is one logical entity, how would you expect to be able to recover beyond a 'hole'. This is IMHO impossible.
