Ray,

I would go for an Alpha box running TruUnix (renamed DigitalUNIX), its the fastest platform for Oracle. Also Compaq are drop the prices of the Alpha range all the time !.

I'm surprised you didn't pick Tandem and NONStop-SQL as the architecture.
