Hi,

Oracle has officially stopped supporting owas installations that are in the same oracle home as the rdbms.
From version 7.3 of the rdbms and owas 3.0, it is mandatory to install the two products in different homes. This way you can also upgrade one without harming the other.
My recommendation is to also install the owas under a different unix user than the rdbms.
