can the listener be restricted to specified IP addresses

Can the listener rules include a restriction to accept connections from only specified IP addresses? I've searched the groups and read the docs but the answer is not clear to me. I understand that the connection manager can be configured in the above manner (does the listener use the same syntax?). I figure that the listener should also have that capability else why bother restricting the connection manager. Any clues will be appreciated.
