IBM VSS (Versatile Storage Server)

I would appreciate thoughts and experiences with IBM's Verasatile Storage Server. VSS is one the storage solutions being considered to support several SUN servers running multiple Oracle database instances and a suite of applications that are not disk nor storage intensive. The Oracle databases are used in a mix of OLTP and and decision suport applications.

The storage requirements are 1 TB of disks with support for 22 Ultra SCSI host connections between 6 SUN UExxxx class servers. The thought behind of pursuing a storage array solution is to minimize the administration efforts, increase the overall system reliability (servers don't know that a disk failed), reuseability of disks (applications have a short life cycle on platforms), a structured growth approach, and acceptable I/O performance.

Your responses are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Glenn
