RE: SQL*NET VS NET8 for Oracle 8

We've not had any problems with Net8. Sometimes people will keep SQL*Net 2 around on client machines because there may be users who need to access different databases with differing versions of the listener. Or, there may be a product that specifically requires SQL*Net2 (I don't know of any offhand). I think all-in-all, Net8 is a bit more efficient than SQL*Net 2.

I think in your situation you'd be safe to just use Net8.
