Accessing Oracle8 with SQLNet 7 client

Hi!
I wonder if it's possible to access an Oracle 8 server from a SQLNet 7.3 client. The db-schema planned to be used is fairly simple and doesn't use any 8-features. Since both SQLNet 7 and 8 clients are SQLNet V2 I thought this might be possible.
If so, can the 8 server and the SQLNet 7 client be run on the same (Solaris) box?
