Greetings all

I am not an Oracle DBA and have been asked to look at the suitability of Oracle in a 24 Hour * 7 Day a week operations. Many of our databases etc require max uptime and the most frequent shutdown schedule is 1-2 hours once a fortnight.

After an unexpected failure we require rapid database recovery. We are a HP-UX site. Ignoring hype is Oracle really suited for 24 hour ops in a unix environment?

My email address is dba_at_mailbox.police.qld.gov.au

Thanks in advance
