That kind of error is usually reported when Oracle does not have any more space on disk to archive redo log files, so you have to delete old archive log files (my recommendation is to archive them somewhere) to make more space for new ones. The space needed to store one archive log file equals the size of the redo log file. All this applies if your instance is running in ARCHIVE LOG mode.
