Did you ask your DBA for memory configuration problem? You should check if there is enough memory for redo log buffer if you turn on archivelog mode and db_block_buffer parameter. And where is your index located? Anyway, you should ask your DBA for your database setting. If you have any problem, please feel free to contact me.
