Without more specifics it is hard to say, but here would be my guess....

You are running your system tablespace with auto-extend turned on, and the combination of the current size of the system01.dbf and the 'next' size for auto-extending are exceeding the operating system ulimit for the oracle user.

If I'm incorrect please let me know. Hope this helps.
