        Ever here of QUE's internet bookshelf? It has a good number of books published in their enirety in HTML on their website. You'll be able to find a few Oracle books in that list. You have to register but it is free and only takes a few seconds. Two that I can think of off-hand are "Oracle Unleashed" and "Oracle...21 Days"

        These arent the best quality books but they'll be enough to get you started.

        The standard kernel parameters are fine, you don't need to worry about them.
