I don't know if this is the problem, but if the host was specified by name in the
listener.ora file it would use DNS to determine the IP address of the machine.
If you specify the IP address explicitly you can pick which one to use. If you
do not have a static IP address then actually switching the two network card
slots has worked for me in the past as well.
