Shutdown immediate terminates all sessions and rolls back all current transactions. If a transaction had been updating for 30 minutes without a commit, it could take 30 minutes to roll back.
Anyone have other ideas?

We're running Oracle 7.3.3.5.1, and got the above message(multipleReceived on Mon Sep 21 1998 - 20:18:28 CDT
times) when attempting to perform a shutdown immediate. This message
appeared once in the alert log, and multiple times in a trace file for
an Oracle client. Basically the shutdown took about 30 minutes,
eventhough there was no database activity. Any ideas?Regards,
