Oracle 8 loading DLL problems

I hear that the current version of Oracle 8 cannot load a DLL and keep the DLL resident... Instead each access to a DLL procedures will cause the DLL to be loaded then unloaded each time...! I hear also that this will be fixed in version 8.0.5... Is this true? Is there a workaround? and when is 8.0.5 due?
