What is the correct way of specifying UTIL_FILE_DIR in init.ora file on UNIX.

Is it  UTIL_FILE_DIR = *              -- any directory
       UTIL_FILE_DIR = /r1/temp   -- specific directory

			or

Is it  UTIL_FILE_DIR = '*'
       UTIL_FILE_DIR = '/r1/temp'

I would like to make sure before I mess with init.ora.

Thanks in advance.
