Hardware striping is *definitely* faster. There is a ton of overhead in an already overloaded OS. Inexpensive RAID controllers for striping are abundantly available. A Mylex FlashPoint UltraWide controller that does RAID 0, RAID 1, or RAID 0/1 is US$135 mail order. Adaptec AAA series are about US$190. Received on Wed May 13 1998 - 11:16:35 CDT
