Smaller executables developed with OCI

Under AIX 4.1 we are developing CGI program in C that comunicates with Oracle
with OCI. The actual program isn't that big but the executable is about 2.5
Mb! What linking option can we use to make the executable smaller and have it
use the shared libraries?
