 If you can not get into sqlplus, try sqldba or svrmgrl. If they work, but sqlplus does not I believe it has to do with sqlnet. There is a file, maybe a com file, but probably sqlnet.ora that has to have the new sid added to it. If you are using sqlnet version 2 you also need to modify listener.ora and tnsnames.ora.
