It is the market which will decide which database will be used most. Since Linux
is already declared as "Number ONE Operating System in USA", market will flock
to linux. Already there are several commercial database companies offering the
ANSI ISO SQL databases like "SOLID Server", YARD SQL (german company), KUBL
and MySQL and ofcourse PostgreSQL is free SQL server. All of these SQL servers - solid, yard, kubl, MySQL, PostgreSQL run on all flavors
of Unix and Linux
and I am afraid Solid, yard, kubl will become popular and rapidly grow in market
share.
Say, 5 years from now Linux databases like Solid, yard, postgres could have
conquered the entire unix market... Oracle, sybase, informix will be late comers to
linux?? Received on Fri Feb 13 1998 - 00:00:00 CST
