Recursive SQL could solve my problem. I just don't think I'll hold my breath
waiting for it to become a standard. Anyway, set-based approaches such as
SQL are fine in theory, but horrendous in practice for the point-based
calculations one does in engineering. I'll wait for the object-databases to
come down in price.
