Re: Oracle to Cold Fusion

We have just finished putting up Cold Fusion on NT Server 4. The ODBC / SQL*Net part was a bit difficult. The Microsoft ODBC drivers supplied by Allaire would not connect at all. We downloaded the Oracle ODBC drivers and these worked. We then upgraded SQL*Net and everything quit working again. We backed out the upgraded SQL*Net and reinstalled the original and then it all stopped working even worse. We finally uninstalled all the Oracle client software and reinstalled the one configuration that worked. It is humming along nicely now.

This might not have any bearing on your Sun/Solaris installation, but our experience showed that it takes the right combination of things to get running. Once it goes, Cold Fusion is great! We are doing some development work for navigating the Oracle meta-data and have done some development work for our clients. Our Web site (http://www.tcdb.com) will be powered by Cold Fusion soon, as our Web host is installing it next month.

Hope some of this helps. I am hot on Cold Fusion and Oracle, even though both can be frustrating at times!
