There are a number of things to check - use of reserved words, disk/memory space (binaries for o8 are way larger than o7), tablespace sizes, etc.

Oracle have a number of scripts, utilities, checklists and other items that can help the migration process. Get in contact with your Oracle sales/ support and request them.

Also make sure you have the latest patch set for 8.0.3 for your OS.
