- ORACLE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM IS NOW AVAILABLE
Oracle Corp. announced its Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Program
back in late September of this year at OpenWorld in Los Angeles. But it
is now officially available. OraWorld tells you exactly what it is, how
much it is, and how to register.
- DEVELOPER/2000 VERSION 2.0 SHIPS
Oracle Corp. announced the immediate availability of Developer/2000
version 2.0, Oracle's flagship application development tool for building
network computing applications. New features include a component library
and a set of "builders" for creating applications without writing code.
- ORACLE RELEASES UPGRADED ENERGY APPLICATIONS
Oracle announced the expanded and enhanced versions of the Oracle Energy
suite -- Oracle Energy Upstream 3.2 and Oracle Energy Downstream 4.0.
- ORACLE’S OBJECT DATABASE DESIGNER 1.0 ENTERS BETA TESTING
Oracle Corp. announced the beta release of Oracle Object Database
Designer Release 1.0, Oracle's object modeling, design, and generation
tool for supporting the new object-relational DBMS features in Oracle8.
The Object Database Designer software combines a visual modeling tool
with a C++ generator, an object repository and support for converting
relational data designs to object form, Oracle said.
- PLATINUM SOFTWARE TO ACQUIRE FOCUSSOFT
Platinum Software Corp. announced that it is acquiring FocusSoft Inc., a
provider of midmarket manufacturing and distribution software.
Platinum’s acquisition of FocusSoft will make Platinum a full-fledged
enterprise resource planning vendor.
- ORACLE WEB DEVELOPER SUITE WINS PC MAGAZINE’S EDITOR CHOICE
Oracle announced that Oracle Web Developer Suite 1.1, a set of
development tools and servers for building and deploying both
client/server and intranet business applications, won PC Magazine's
Editors' Choice Award.
- ORACLE AND MICRON DELIVER DATABASE MANAGEMENT FOR WINDOWS NT
Oracle Corp. announced a relationship with Micron Electronics, Inc.
designed to provide a powerful, immediate, and cost-effective solution
for Windows NT in mid-size corporations.
- ORACLE SELECTS PARTNERS TO SELL ORACLE APPLICATIONS THROUGH
FASTFORWARD TO MIDDLE MARKET COMPANIES
Oracle Corp. announced that it has selected six Oracle Applications
Dealers to be authorized selling partners for FastForward, a turnkey
offering for Oracle Applications.
- IBM, LOTUS, ORACLE, AND SUN PLAN TO DEVELOP JAVA-BASED DESKTOP SPEC
IBM Corp., Lotus Development Corp., Oracle Corp., and Sun Microsystems,
Inc. announced a cooperative development initiative to bring the first
unified network computing desktop environment to the industry in a
single set of specifications known as the "Webtop Specification."
- ORACLE WILL LICENSE LOTUS ESUITE APPS FOR USE WITH INTEROFFICE
Oracle announced that it intends to license Lotus' eSuite, a set of
Java-based productivity applets. Oracle is slated to offer the eSuite
applets as an option to its Web-based collaboration and database
messaging product Oracle InterOffice.
- ORACLE VP JERRY HELD ABRUPTLY RESIGNS, REPLACED BY GARY BLOOM
Jerry Held unexpectedly resigned from his senior VP position at Oracle
last week. Held was senior VP of Oracle’s Server Technology Division and
was responsible for Oracle's flagship database management system. Held's
responsibilities are being assumed by Gary Bloom, an 11-year Oracle
veteran.
- APPLE WORKING WITH ORACLE TO BUILD AN NC
Apple Computer, Inc. is working with Oracle Corp. to build a network
computer to be released by the end of the first quarter of 1998, stated
Larry Ellison.
