Greg,
Rushing into this could do you in. We just moved from 7.0.15 on an IBM mainframe to 7.3.2.3 on an SGI Unix server. We had some real problems that needed individual attention, not the least of which was that 7.0.15 created corrupt Export files (maybe 7.0.16 was better). Some of our problems were also related to the disparate character sets (EBCDIC vs. ASCII). Hopefully you are working with compatible Operating Systems. We also had performance problems because of the changes in the init.ora parameters and changes in the details of the 7.3 server environment.

Good luck. In my experience, DBA functions that get rushed have a negative return on investment.
