If it is a mission critical app. , possibly involving 24x7 operation, then, in my opinion, you will certainly need a DBA. If you have someone who wants to be trained to be a DBA, this would be an ideal opportunity, but I would reccomend getting someone with experience in to do your initial set up and tuning - there is a *lot* to take in when you are a newbie DBA, believe me :-)
