Intelligent Agents on 7.2

Hello everyone,

I have worked now as a Oracle DBA for 1.5 month. During this year a number of Oracle databases will be created at remote places. We choice to control these database from a central point using the Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Normally I thought that the Oracle Enterprise Manager was uses for database up to 7.3 (we have a 7.2 NT server). I hav read that most functions of the Enterprise Manager can also be used for 7.2 Databases.

I got the following question: Is it true that i can use Agent with 7.2. I tried to install the agents, but when I tried to startup the Agent Service within NT the OracleTNSListener Service stopped and I was not able to startup this Service. Can anyone tell me how i can use Agents with 7.2 or if it is advicable to migrate to a 7.3 server.

Futhermore i would like to ask is someone got some usefull documentation that will help me with the DBA's activities. Because I'm a bit unexpierenced I could use every 'helping hand'. If you got any, pleas mail this to ekessels_at_xs4all.nl
