Person Oracle and ODBC?

I am working on connecting a 32bit powerbuilder app to personal oracle. I am having trouble connecting. The database is running on the notebook as well as the application. I do not know how to point to the database? Oracle said not to enter a host name? Anybody know what I am talking about?

We are trying to use an intersolv odbc driver.
