What is your platform ? Database size ? purpose ?

RAW is typically faster, but can easily get you into trouble from an administration perspective. If you're on a SUN platform, I would suggest looking into a new product from Veritas. Their file system product performs as well as RAW device without the administration headaches associated with typical RAW device use.
